Philipp Steinmayr († 11.07.2026)

Completely unexpectedly and inconceivably for all of us, a tragic racing accident abruptly ended the life of our CEO, colleague, and friend Philipp Steinmayr at the age of just 32. His greatest passion, motorcycle racing, was where he found freedom and athletic challenge – and it is the same place where his journey now came to an end far too soon.

The Perfect Balance Between the Race Track and Responsibility

Anyone who knew Philipp knows that, for him, motorsports was not at odds with his role as managing director of our family business. On the contrary: he carried the spirit of the race track directly into his work at ESA.

Whether on the Superbike track or at the company, he held himself to the same standards: utmost focus, the courage to break new ground, and the firm conviction that great goals can only be achieved as a perfectly coordinated team. He was accustomed to working as part of a team, stayed on track, and never lost his bearings – even in complex situations.

An authentic leader who was proud of his team

A few years ago, Philipp took over the rein of the company founded by his father – a step he was incredibly proud of. He wasn’t the kind of boss who managed from a distance; he was a hands-on leader. With a natural talent for motivating people and the determination to master necessary skills in the blink of an eye, he steered us through the past few years.

His visions and the many forward-thinking, meaningful inputs he brought to the table are firmly anchored in our daily work. As a team, we will definitely carry on every single one of his ideas and put them into practice. The transition to the next generation was well on its way.

Philipp took immense joy in working with his team. Just this year, we had planned a company trip to Crete to rally the entire team for the next five years and celebrate our shared success. Even without embarking on this trip, we will resolutely continue the journey in his spirit.

A smile
that will remain.

What made Philipp so special was his incredible warmth. His work and daily interactions with customers, partners, and colleagues brought him genuine joy. He always had a friendly, sincere smile for everyone. Thanks to his open, authentic nature, he had countless friends – both in sports and in his professional life.

As focused as he was as an entrepreneur and race car driver, he was, at heart, a devoted family man. His loved ones were his anchor. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his longtime girlfriend Sophie, who has been an integral part of our family for many years, his brother, his sister, his parents, and all his relatives and friends.

Philipp, thank you for everything. We miss you beyond words.
